The European Green Pioneer of Smart Tourism , equivalent to the European Capital of Smart Tourism award dedicated to smaller and more sustainable destinations, has awarded the title of winner to the beautiful city of Grosseto , in the Tuscany .
The aim of the competition is to create a network to share best practices among European destinations in order to promote sustainable tourism through the ecological transition.

Grosseto, a charming Tuscan town located on the Tyrrhenian Sea coast, offers a captivating blend of history, culture and natural beauty .
Founded by the Etruscans , the city boasts a rich historical heritage and unique landscapes that attract thousands of tourists each year who explore its history and coasts through slow tourism initiatives.
Preserving one's own identity also means preserving the territory , and Grosseto, with nearly 30% of the city's protected area dedicated to agriculture, boasts increasingly functional agritourism services.
The Maremma park , with its numerous agrotourism initiatives , offers cooking activities, tasting workshops and cycling routes suitable for all ages and abilities throughout the year.
The European Green Pioneer of Smart Tourism committee has identified in Grosseto the willingness and capacity to combine cultural, archaeological, scientific research, and sustainable tourism projects to offer a responsible tourism experience.
Grosseto has long been committed to ensuring accessibility to its beaches, monuments, and city center, developing a mobility system that integrates bicycles and a shuttle service that can be booked via the app .
For the future, the city intends to offer residents and tourists a large green area , a haven for running, walking, cycling and relaxing.
The Grosseto Urban Trekking project also aims to promote slow tourism, local art, and history by creating a network of cycling routes that connect the entire province and contribute to green mobility and responsible exploration.
