What is Innovating in Digital Tourism?
"Innovating in Digital Tourism" is a European project developed under the Erasmus+ programme, designed to promote the transition of the tourism sector towards smarter, more sustainable and inclusive models. The project brings together partners from Spain, Italy and Malta, who work together to identify and share good practices, develop educational tools and encourage the adoption of advanced technologies in the management of tourist destinations and services.
Its main objectives include:
Increasing the competitiveness of tourism SMEs through digitalisation and innovation.
Promote environmental, economic and social sustainability in tourist destinations.
Promote the development of digital and sustainable skills in professionals in the sector.
The motivation behind this initiative stems from the need to address the challenges facing modern tourism, such as overcrowding, environmental impact and increasing visitor demands for personalized and responsible experiences. This project seeks to offer practical and scalable solutions to overcome these challenges, benefiting all stakeholders in the tourism ecosystem.

The Innovating in Digital Tourism project has generated a significant impact. Its approach focused on digitalisation has allowed it to propose advanced technological tools, such as big data platforms and augmented reality solutions, which not only optimise resource management, but also transform the visitor experience, making it more personalised, efficient and immersive.
In the area of sustainability, the project has promoted responsible practices that contribute to reducing the environmental impact of tourism. This includes the implementation of strategies to manage natural resources efficiently, minimize waste generation and promote the conservation of local ecosystems.
The impact is also reflected in the strengthening of the professional skills of key players in the sector. Through workshops specialising in digitalisation, sustainability and innovation, the project has prepared tourism professionals from partner organisations to adapt to the demands of a dynamic and highly competitive environment.
Finally, the creation of collaborative networks between destinations, companies and communities has fostered a constant exchange of knowledge and good practices, generating synergies that amplify the scope and effectiveness of the actions undertaken.
The project aims to leave a lasting legacy, contributing to the development of more resilient, competitive and environmentally friendly tourist destinations, serving as a model for other regions in Europe and beyond.
